Little Prophets

My 5-year-old son wakes up one morning and asks me why does he see colors everywhere. He sees them whether his eyes are open or closed. My answer to this question can either hinder or activate the gift within him. Prophetic gifts are not restricted by age nor according to the box that we like to package them in. Prophets are born not manufactured and God’s ability to act is limitless. We have to keep their gifts close to us. If my son would talk to his teacher about this, or the times when the “man” (Holy Spirit) inside of him speaks, surely she would think that he is crazy. Unfortunately, some of the “church” is guilty of this thinking as well. Many view the prophetic as

spooky or confuse it with witchcraft because they have not yet encountered the fullness of God.

So how do I answer such a question? With the truth of course! “God speaks through everything. All of the colors have a meaning. God can talk to you through them once you learn what they mean.” By speaking this truth to him, I activate the power of the Holy Spirit to speak to him through colors. Now, it is up to me to train him in his gift. Much prayer is needed, but God has already equipped us to raise our children in the way that they should go.

Raising prophets in this perverted world can be challenging to say the least. I had to explain to him that he must only speak to Mommy and Daddy about these things because many people do not believe or understand the things that we do.

Persecutions Are Coming

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. - Matthew 10:16 (NKJV)

We have to protect our children’s prophetic gift. We cannot let the world come in and place seeds of doubt, fear, rejection, or perversion. We do this by making the supernatural “normal”. They must know who they are. We must listen to their dreams, pay attention to their fears, and discern their actions. We have to train them in their authority. They must learn when and how to

speak. For every truth that God has for their purpose, there is a lie waiting to derail them by the enemy. We have to give them a solid foundation in the Word, teach them how to pray, and cover them in the blood of Jesus.

Looking for trainable moments is crucial. Never sweep their “silly antics” under the rug. God has to talk to them on levels that they understand. What seems foolish to us, makes perfect sense to them. Look for prophetic meaning. God will speak to us as we pay attention to how He deals with them.

"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;" - 1 Corinthians 1:27 (NKJV)

The more that we pay attention to their gift, the more “normal” it will become. Encourage them to operate in it. Teach them love, and show them lots of mercy. (Prophets tend to get in trouble because of their “knowing” of truth and passion to want to act for justice). Pour acceptance on them, and encourage their boldness. Although the training process can be ugly at moments, at the perfect time, God will release them for His Glory!

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end." - Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NKJV)

Jesus is Lord over our little prophets! May He continue to strengthen us and give us supernatural wisdom in building His kingdom through our children. Let us not get weary and continue to press through every circumstance by His grace.
